Obedience/Manners/ Canine Good Citizen

Skills Taught:

Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leash walking, Socializing, Distractions, Grooming, First Aid and more.

Classes are taught in the spring and fall

PUPPY CLASS: dogs under 6 months

Dog Class: dogs over 6 months

Next session of classes will be February 2023.

Other fun canine sports

Rally-Rally is an AKC sport in which dog and handler complete a course designed by a judge.

Barn Hunt-Barn Hunt is a sport where titles are recognized by AKC, but directed by the Barnhunt Association, (BHA) Barnhunt is the sport of a dog/handler team locating a hidden pvc tube, containing a pet rat, a course of straw bales, within a short amount of time.

Hide n Seek-Hide n Seek is another sport where the team of dog and handler hunt for a specific scent on a pre-designed course of straw bales. Scent options include a pet rat, hot dog or the essential oil, Anise. The scent is handler's choice.

Hide n Seek is not recognized by AKC, yet, but by the HnS Association.

Scent Work- Scentwork the training of finding a specific scent in a hidden container and alerting his handler to the scent.

Agility- Agility is the ultimate physical dog/human sport. The handler directs the dog around and obstacles, as quickly as possible with no errors. Agility is a recognized AKC sport.

Dock diving: Just like it sounds, a dog runs the length of a 40 foot dock and launches himself off the dock into a 45 foot long pool. Dock diving is an AKC titling event.

Distance is the goal!!

Currently most of our members compete in conformation or have done so in the past.

Hot Springs Kennel Club hosts an AKC conformation show at the Hot Springs convention Center annually in the fall. Dogs and handlers come from all over the country to compete for the coveted Best In Show win!
